Have you ever wondered what happens when you mix Yokohama's cool city vibes with Okinawa’s high energy? You get EMNW. This duo is currently the most exciting thing in the Japanese "mixture-rock" scene. If you haven't heard of Emma and Menu yet, it’s time to pay attention. They just finished a wild tour in the UK and are heading back to Japan for a massive finale.
Who is EMNW?
EMNW is a two-MC rock duo that formed in March 2024. The group features Emma, who brings the sharp style of Yokohama, and Menu, who carries the bright spirit of Okinawa. They first met through their management company, but they actually crossed paths years ago during the famous Senko Riot auditions.
They didn't start out heavy. At first, they were doing pop covers. But everything changed in late 2024. They released the single "Choushi doudai?" (How’s it going?) and found their true calling. Their sound shifted into a high-energy blend of rock, rap, and heavy metal that they call "mixture-rock."
The Return of Y2K Mixture-Rock
If you grew up listening to nu-metal or bands like Limp Bizkit and Dragon Ash, you will love EMNW. Their music is a throwback to the Y2K era. They mix heavy guitar riffs with rap vocals, ska beats, and punk energy.
Even the legends are noticing. Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit actually gave them a shout-out on social media after seeing their cover of "Rollin'." They also joined the "WiLD CARD" project by the famous Japanese band SiM. EMNW describes their style as "hard, cute, and aggressive." It’s the perfect description for their chaotic but fun live shows.

The Debut Album: EMNW
On March 4, 2026, the duo released their first full-length album, simply titled EMNW. This isn't just a standard debut. They brought in some of the biggest names in Japanese rock and metal to help out:
- Tatsuya Amano (Crossfaith): Provided powerful drums for the track "Get it, Get it."
- Taura Raku (Crystal Lake): Brought his signature heavy production to the mix.
- BOTS (Dragon Ash): Added that classic Y2K mixture-rock flavor.
- Ivan (Survive Said The Prophet): Wrote and arranged music under his solo project, QON.
The album is a non-stop ride. It captures the "KAMASU" ethos: a Japanese slang term that means to go all out or give it your everything.
Taking Over the UK
In May 2026, EMNW headed to the UK for their first-ever international tour. It was a massive success. They played at The Key Club in Leeds and moved on to The Black Heart in London. The London show sold out completely, proving that the hunger for Japanese rock is growing in Europe.
They also appeared at The Great Escape festival in Brighton. Their sets were so popular that the venues hit capacity almost instantly. Hundreds of fans were left waiting outside, hoping to catch a glimpse of the duo’s explosive performance.

The GOOD VIBES ONLY Japan Tour
Now, Emma and Menu are back on home soil. They are currently in the middle of their "EMNW To KAMASU – GOOD VIBES ONLY JAPAN TOUR 2026." This tour covers 25 dates across Japan, bringing their "mixture-rock" energy to every corner of the country.
The buzz is building for the grand finale. On June 15, 2026, EMNW will take the stage at the legendary Tokyo LIQUIDROOM. This venue has hosted some of the biggest names in music, and for EMNW, it marks a huge milestone in their career.
